What is NomadHer?

NomadHer is a global community that empowers women to travel fearlessly and connect with one another. It’s more than an app—it’s a movement powered by sharing, solidarity, and inspiration. As The New York Times put it:“Traveling solo does not mean being alone the whole time. NomadHer is a free app specifically designed for solo female travelers to help them find travel partners, welcoming accommodations and travel tips.”

NomadHer has also been recognized by ELLE, Google, COSMOPOLITAN, Forbes, and Marie Claire.

🔖 Philosophy that began with the founder’s story

After traveling solo to more than 60 countries, founder Hyojeong realized: “Solo travel isn’t lonely—it’s freeing. Along the way, women discover courage, confidence, and themselves.” Based on this belief, NomadHer creates a safe, supportive space where women share stories, build confidence, and meet other inspiring women.

NomadHer’s Mission

NomadHer’s mission is to create a safe and supportive space for women travelers around the world—to share stories, grow their confidence, and meet other inspiring women.

  • Relieving the anxiety of solo female travel: small, vetted, women-hosted programs with practical support such as night-route guidance, safety tips, and cultural etiquette.
  • A safe woman-to-woman connection structure: with women as both hosts and guests, psychological barriers drop and empathy forms quickly.
  • Economic independence and empowerment for local women: directly connecting local women—chefs, artists, guides—with global travelers to build work opportunities and brands together.

🔖 Why a women-only community?

Travel information is everywhere, but when you’re alone, uncertainty, safety worries, and cultural barriers don’t disappear. NomadHer focuses on three things::

  • Safety: A women-only community with full ID verification. Our team personally reviews each photo and passport check. It might feel tedious—but users say it makes their trust “jump 200%.”
  • Connection: See at a glance who’s in the same city on the same dates and start a conversation right away—no more repeating “How long are you here?” every time.
  • Growth: Beyond travel tips, we consistently host spaces—meetups/camps/festivals—where women share work, life, and a sense of self.

Meetups · Camps · Festivals: from online to offline

NomadHer’s strength is real-life connection.

  • Activity meetups: hiking, ski camps, diving, surfing, Jeju haenyeo experiences
  • Local culture experiences: gimbap-making, BBQ, traditional tea ceremonies, baseball games, jjimjilbang gatherings
  • Global festivals & talks: networking with women leaders and founders from around the world

🔖 What kinds of connections actually happen?

Taking Seoul as an example, on one day there were 119 women staying in the city.

  • Tasneem wanted to do a café tour, shop, and enjoy a light drink.
  • Princess, an English teacher in Korea, wanted to make more Korean friends.
  • Katrin planned to stay a month and look for friends to travel Korea together.

You can see women with different nationalities, goals, and lengths of stay at a glance and start a conversation with no pressure. Many say they “didn’t know where to meet foreign friends” or that “language-exchange apps have too many men and feel uncomfortable,” and are especially satisfied with NomadHer.

🔖 Here are a couple of actual reviews

  • Frances, Jeju Haenyeo Camp: “It was my first time diving, but the instructors guided us safely and I gained confidence. It was a meaningful adventure.”
  • Florine, She Can Travel Paris: “Inspiring speakers, great workshops, wonderful people! I’m proud to be part of a strong community of solo female travelers.”

How do I use the app?

A quick start guide ;

  1. Download the app (App Store/Google Play)
  2. Create an account & verify as a woman (upload a photo holding your passport; our team reviews)
  3. Find a travel buddy (search by city and dates, then chat right away)
  4. Join events & global trips (check the Experience section)

  • Search a travel city: For example, search “Bangkok” to see how many women are there now and their stay periods. Message a buddy you’d like to meet—done.
  • No more repetitive questions: You don’t have to keep asking “Until when are you here?” or “Where are you now?”—the screen already shows the details.
  • Expand by interests: Connect easily by interests like English study groups, café tours, hiking, photo walks. Avoid the discomfort common on language-exchange apps and keep communication safe for women.

🔖 Why is signup and verification so thorough?

Because only women are approved to join, you need to submit a verification photo while holding your passport. Our team checks it manually and approves your account, and any reviewed personal information is discarded immediately. It’s a bit of a hassle, but it’s a safeguard to block risks. Many users say “it actually boosted trust a lot.”

NomadHer isn’t just a travel community

NomadHer is more than a travel community—it’s a platform that empowers women to live with agency and confidence. Solo travel becomes a way for women to meet, share their stories, and grow their capabilities. We’re committed to creating experiences that help women discover new sides of themselves in every city they explore. From Seoul to Paris, over 400,000 women are already traveling with NomadHer. Join them and connect with women around the world today.
