Let’s go on a day trip to Arcachon!

After enjoying a good breakfast at the hostel, it’s time to enjoy the French summer, and to go to the coast! We will take the direction of Arcachon, located in the Arcachon basin. 💦

Arcachon is 50 minutes away by train from Bordeaux. You will have time to enjoy the ride with beautiful landscapes! 🚆

We will arrive at Arcachon around 11 am 🤩

➡️ About Arcachon

A magnificent view of the basin is visible from the Boulevard, where a pleasant atmosphere of crowds is present. Behind, is the tip of Cap Ferret, the favorite place of French film and television stars. They live in the woods and all along the basin in large houses.

Arcachon is a magnificent place you must see: terraces, shops, rustic town, sun, sea, and beach, it's all there.

➡️ What to do in Arcachon?

🚣🏻‍♀️ Sea kayak

This will be included in the price. Around 2 pm, we will start from Port de Plaisance (quai gloslar) in Arcachon, and will spend 1 hour on the sea.

🚶‍♀️ Visit the city center

Let’s start our visit directly on the waterfront, along the beautiful promenade next to the main beach (Plage d’Arcachon). We can also go and check the main market, Marché d’Arcachon, which gathers plenty of food stands with local delicacies 😋

🌅 Dune du Pilat

At the top of the largest dune in Europe, you will admire the colorful landscapes between the ocean on one side and the great pine forest of the Landes de Gascogne on the other.

It is a must-see when visiting Arcachon!

🏖️ Beach club

In Arcachon, you can find several beach clubs to relax on the stunning beach of Arcachon bay. They are the ideal place to forget your daily problems and relax, you can spend the whole day simply lying in one of their comfortable hammocks or deckchairs 😊

💦 Other Activities on the Bassin d’Arcachon:

Going on a boat trip, paddling in a canoe-kayak or rowboat, testing activities in the air such as paragliding, there is something for everyone 😍

At 7 pm, we will take our train back to Bordeaux. 🛤️

And of course, we will go to eat dinner together once we arrive! 😋

For the rest of the night, it’s up to you: relaxing time 😌 or discovering the city by night 🥳?

It represents the historic heart of the city. As you wander its charming narrow streets you will have the chance to discover magical and fairy tale-looking monuments such as la Grosse Cloche (the bell tower), Porte Cailhau (the ancient gate to the city) and the flamboyant Gothic-styled Saint Pierre church.

🧺 Exploring the markets

👉 Restaurant LouLou

✅ Transportation to Bordeaux

✈️ By plane

The fastest and easiest way to get to Bordeaux from any major city in France (and the world, for that matter) is to take a flight.

The Bordeaux-Merignac International Airport (BOD) receives direct national and international flights. Most national flights only take a bit more than an hour.

🚆 By train

The train station in Bordeaux is called “Gare de Bordeaux-Saint-Jean”. Direct trains arrive daily from all over France. The most frequented routes are from Toulouse and Paris**,** with the journey of 2 and 3:20 hours respectively. From other major cities, the journey can be longer than 4 hours.

🚍 By bus

Although many travelers opt for the bus, this is mostly recommended for those departing from Toulouse, as the ride is only around 3 hours. The time significantly increases when considering other destinations, and can be as long as 14 hours!
